Trout Baits

These seem to be the most popular baits available,
but if you use your imagination, there are many
others that could work for you just as well.

1. Nightcrawlers:The largest worms; can be too big for some trout, yet very popular.

2. Red worms: A medium size garden worm. These are deadly for trout, yet they break apart easily.

3. Blackhead worm:A medium size worm. These are the best for trout, if you can find them.

4. Power bait: A very popular bait, it comes in all different colors. If you can't decide, the rainbow color is an excellent choice. Power bait is very clean and stays on the hook very well.

5. Mealworms: Excellent bait that lives long and can take warmer temperatures than other worms.

6. Salmon Eggs: An old favorite, they come in a wide variety of colors, orange being a popular choice. Smaller hooks are needed for salmon eggs (usually a size 10 or 12).

7. Minnows: Small minnows are a deadly bait for trout. 2" long minnows hooked through the lip is a popular set up.

8. Corn: I used to laugh at this one, but canned corn is one of the best baits you can use. It stays on the hook. Put 4 or 5 kernels on a size 8 hook. Check your local area to make sure corn is allowed as bait.
